We will show you how to use the prefectural Akagi Park campsite, which was reopened in July 2020.

Prefectural Akagi Park Camp Site

Akagiyama is located in the center of Gunma prefecture. Onuma (Lake Caldera) is located near the summit and is a public campsite in the prefectural park. There is a white birch forest and it is an area where you can enjoy the outdoors even in the summer with an altitude of 1,310m.

How to Use

how to make a reservation

online reservations only.
Only available in the specified location.
※Use of fire including barbecue and camping on the lake side of Akagi Park is prohibited.

  1. Please make a reservation in advance on Gunma Prefecture area public facilities reservation system.
  2. Please go dlrectly to the reserved site within the check-in hours of 12:00-17:00.
    The manager is not always onsite, and no check-in procedure is required.
  3. The park management staff and supporters make patrol rounds on an irregular basis.
    Please show them the auto-reply e-mail(or a print-out) you receibe when you make areservation.
  4. Pease take down your tent and move your vehicle by 10:00(check-out time) the following day.
    When taking down your tent. please also clean the site you used and make sure you do not leave anything(especially pegs) behind.

Basic rules

  • The campground is open from late April to mid-November and closed in winter.
    The period changes depending on temperature,snow fall and precipitation,and other facotrs. Please confirm the period on the website of Gunma Prefecture.
  • Be sure to make a reservation in advance on the reservation system for public facilities in Gunma Prefecture. Please note that a reservation is required to use the facility.
  • We accept reservations for up to 2 consecutive nights.Please refrain from staying for more than 3 consecutive days so that more people can use the facility.
  • Please be punctual with the check-in and check-out hours.
  • Check-in hours: 12:00-17:00* Please refrain from setting up a tent after 18:00.
  • Check-out hours: -10:00* the following day. Please move your vehicle and be ready to leave by 10:00.
  • Our curfew is 22:00. Please keep puiet to avoid disturbing people who are asleep.
  • Please take your garbage home with you.
    There is no garbage dump here. Please also take used charcoal home with you, it does not return to soil(nature). *If you dispose of illegally, you will be in violation of “Law Disposal and Cleaning Law Article 25 Paragraph 1 Item 14” and imprisonment of 5 years or less / fine of 10 million yen or less It is being done.
  • Minors cannot use the facility unless accompanied by an adult.
  • Please follow instructions from the park management staff and supporters. They make rounds on an irreguler basis for safety management.

Prohibitions

  • Open fire (Campfire,bonfire) excluding a case when a bonfire stand is used. Please make sure to take the used charcoal home with you.
  • Fireworks
  • Using a speaker (for Karaoke,etc.) or a generator.
  • Idling
    Please make sure to turn off the engine when spending the night in a car.
  • Bringing in a pet
  • Camping outside the designated area(particularly by the lake)
  • Any acts contrary to public order or morality including peddling, asking for donations, and opening a store
  • Feeding and inducing wild animals
  • Leaving garbage or kitchen waste sitting during your stay. Be aware of environmental preservation and prevent garbage from littering.

Other

  • The campground may be closed for the safety of users in case of bad weather or some other unavoidable reason.
  • We do our best for tehe maintenance and to provide proper instructions in preventing accidents. However, it dose not mean that your safety is guaranteed since the facility is situated in nature. You will need to take full responsibility for your action. Please make a reservation upon understanding the responsibility.
  • The terms of service are frequently updated based on opinions from users. Please read through each time you make a reservation.

This is a free campground with no manager on site. Please follow the prescribed rules when using the site. Please note that if the rules are not followed, we may have to close the campground.

Usage fee

The usage fee is free.
*Please be sure to complete the procedure when canceling.

Facility

  • Toilet:
    It is a flush toilet. There is also toilet paper.
  • Kitchen:
    It has a roof and eight furnaces.
  • Washing place:
    It has 8 faucets and can be used as drinking water.

Lake side

About use on the lake side. Camping is not possible because the lakeside is not a campground but a prefectural park. You can lay a leisure sheet and have a picnic by the lake. You can’t use fire. Please bring your lunch and enjoy. Please take your garbage home with you.

Prefectural Akagi Park campground, which was popular at the free campground, was renewed. I think that many people have contributed to the renewal. The result is an attractive, well-equipped campsite with a reservation system. Please follow the rules and manners and use them with care.
